Southeast Striders Walking Club in Athens, Georgia, is an affiliate of America’s Walking Club (aka American Volkssport Association – www.AVA.org). We are a non-profit organization whose mission is to encourage everyone, regardless of level of fitness, to get out, exercise, and have fun doing it. Our Trailmasters create safe and interesting 5 and 10 kilometer walk events in and around Athens. Our motto is “Fun, Fitness and Friendship”. Our walking activities are open to everyone.
Next Walk: Saturday, June 28 – Carrs Hill 6k Walk at 8:30 am to register, step off at 8:45 am to begin the walk. Start at Dudley Park, 1177 East Broad Street, Athens, GA. See Dudley Park, the North Oconee River Greenway, the Firefly Trail (Rails to Trails), and the Oconee River waterfalls and rapids near downtown Athens that supported cotton mills in the early to mid 1800’s. This walk will last approximately one and one-half hours for the 6K or approximately 2.5 to 3 hours for the 10k. Avoid UGA parking spaces by parking at the back of the lot in Park-Trails Parking spaces. Restrooms available shortly after the beginning of the walk. $4 to walk, $11 for T-shirts.
